Scope

This policy applies to personal information collected through this website, the project enquiry form, and later communications about an enquiry or project. It does not apply to third-party websites linked from this site; their own privacy policies apply.

Information collected

When you use the project enquiry form, we may collect the information you choose to provide, including your name, email address, phone number, business type, current website, project type, services required, number of pages, approximate budget, preferred launch timing and message.

The website and its service providers may also receive technical information normally sent with a web request, such as an IP address, browser and device type, referring page, access time and basic diagnostic or security data.

Please do not submit passwords, payment-card details, government identifiers, health information or other sensitive information through the enquiry form. You can browse the public pages without identifying yourself, although normal technical request data may still be processed.

How information is used

We use personal information only where reasonably necessary to:

• review, respond to and manage your enquiry;
• prepare a scope, estimate, proposal or agreement;
• deliver and administer services you request;
• maintain business, tax and project records where required;
• protect the website and form from spam, fraud, misuse and security threats; and
• comply with law, resolve disputes or enforce agreements.

We do not currently use enquiry details for mailing lists or automated marketing, and we do not sell or rent them. If that practice changes, this policy and any required consent process will be updated first.

Service providers and overseas processing

The enquiry form is processed by Formspree. Form submissions and associated technical information are sent to Formspree so the enquiry can be delivered, filtered for spam and viewed in the Formspree account.

We use AI-assisted design and development services, including Claude Design from Anthropic and ChatGPT Codex from OpenAI, to explore concepts, refine interfaces and assist with front-end code. Where reasonably necessary, project materials may be submitted to these providers for those purposes. We do not intentionally submit passwords, payment details, government identifiers or other sensitive credentials. Anthropic and OpenAI process information under their own privacy policy and privacy policy.

This website also loads fonts from Google Fonts and software files from unpkg. Those providers may receive technical request information when their resources load. We may use other professional advisers, contractors, hosting providers or authorities where reasonably necessary for the purposes above, subject to appropriate confidentiality or legal requirements.

Formspree states that it uses technical infrastructure in the United States and may process information in the United States and other countries where it operates. Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, unpkg and future service providers may also process information outside Australia. Privacy protections in those countries may differ from Australian law.

Storage, security and retention

Enquiries may be held in Formspree and in business email or project records. We take reasonable administrative and technical steps appropriate to a small business to protect information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Personal information is kept only for as long as it is reasonably needed for an enquiry, project, record-keeping, dispute or legal obligation. When it is no longer required, we will take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it, subject to backups and records that must lawfully be retained. Formspree applies its own retention practices to information it processes.

The site does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. It may use short-lived browser storage to remember interface state, such as whether an introductory animation has already been shown. That storage is not used to build a marketing profile.

Access and correction

You may ask what personal information we hold about you, request access to it, or ask for inaccurate or out-of-date information to be corrected. Use the project enquiry form and write “Privacy request” at the start of the message. We may need to verify your identity before providing access or making a change. If access or correction cannot be provided, we will explain why where required by law.

Privacy complaints

If you believe your personal information has been mishandled, email boringwebdesign@gmail.com with “Privacy complaint” in the subject line, or use the project enquiry form with “Privacy complaint” at the start of the message. Include enough detail for us to investigate. We will review the issue, may ask for more information, and will communicate the outcome within a reasonable period.

If the issue is not resolved, you may be able to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. The OAIC generally expects you to give the organisation an opportunity to address the complaint first.
